Monster Energy AMA Motocross - Round 1 of the 2013 AMA Motocross at Hangtown, Sacramento. We have a massive first round of racing for the 2013 AMA Motocross season! Both the 250 and 450 classes are stacked with talent this season. In the 250's we have defending champion Blake Baggett, newly crowned 250 West supercross champ Ken Roczen, Eli Tomac, Marvin Musquin and a host of rookie starters. the 450 class is almost back to full strength with Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Trey Canard, Justin Barcia, Chad Reed, Sipes, Short, Alessi and more. 250 Moto 1 - Great to see a starting grid of forty riders and watch them thunder into turn one. Baggett gets a great start and so does Tomac, Musquin and Roczen. Tomac and Roczen move to the front, but it's Roczen who prevails and takes the moto 1 win. 250 Moto 2 - Roczen and Baggett battle out front, but the customary late moto charge doesn't come from Baggett (maybe his wrist is still a little week). 450 Moto 1 - Stewart grabs the early lead, but Villopoto is right there and gets by before the end of the first lap. Ryan Dungey then gets by Stewart who looks like he's riding to stay upright rather than win. Villopoto wins about ten seconds from Dungey who is ten seconds ahead of Stewart. 450 Moto 2 - Stewart gets another holeshot with Dungey and Villopoto right there. Stewart and Dungey battle back and forth then... Villopoto gets by both! Dungey needs to wok on his aggression. Reed Wilson ans Malcolm Stewart had troubles today. Canard and Barcia were off the pace of the front three and in the middle were riders like Short, Rattray, Sipes, Tickle and Alessi. Overall it looks like we are in for a cracker of a season! |
